An immune system that overreacts.
Dust, pollen, a particular food, a metal in a watch strap. An allergy is not a fault in the trigger. It is your system responding to something harmless as though it were dangerous.

Conditions in this area
- Dust and house dust mite allergy
- Seasonal and pollen allergy
- Food intolerance and allergy
- Contact allergy
- Allergic rhinitis
- Allergic conjunctivitis
Why the trigger is not really the problem
Two people walk through the same dusty room. One notices nothing. The other sneezes for an hour. The dust is identical, so the interesting difference is in the two people, not in the room.
Antihistamines work on the reaction after it has started, and they work well. What they do not do is change the sensitivity itself, which is why many people find they are taking something every day through a whole season, year after year.
Homoeopathic treatment is aimed at that sensitivity. Not at blocking the sneeze faster, but at the constitution that keeps producing the response.
Honesty about what this can and cannot do
This is the area where homoeopathy gets oversold, so it is worth being plain.
A genuine severe food allergy, the kind that causes throat swelling or anaphylaxis, is not something to experiment with. If you carry an adrenaline pen, you keep carrying it. If you avoid a food because it has caused a serious reaction, you keep avoiding it. No homoeopathic treatment changes that, and any practitioner who suggests otherwise is putting you in danger.
Where classical homoeopathy is genuinely worth considering is the long running, quality of life allergy. The blocked nose every spring, the dust reaction that has become a daily antihistamine, the eyes that stream from March to May.
What a case taking covers
- The exact trigger, if there is one, and how reliably it produces a reaction.
- The season and the setting. Indoors or outdoors, at home or at work, morning or evening.
- What form the reaction takes. Nose, eyes, chest, skin, gut, or several at once.
- How it has changed over the years. Whether it started in childhood, and whether it is broadening.
- What happens between episodes, because a constitutional picture needs your baseline, not only your flare.
A severe allergic reaction can become life threatening within minutes. If any of the following are happening, use an adrenaline pen if you have one and get emergency medical help immediately. Do not wait, and do not book a consultation instead.
- Swelling of the lips, tongue, throat or face
- Difficulty breathing, noisy breathing or a tight throat
- A sudden widespread rash together with feeling faint or unwell
- Vomiting or collapse after eating a known trigger food
- Dizziness, confusion or a sense that something is very wrong
- Any reaction that is escalating faster than previous ones
What the first consultation looks like
- Deep case taking, 90 minutes. The complaint, the history, and everything around it. Bring your reports and a list of everything you take.
- Constitutional remedy. One remedy chosen for you rather than for the diagnosis on your file.
- Lifestyle protocol. Built from your own case, covering the things that actually hold the pattern in place.
- Review. Progress is judged on how you are and what your reports show, with your treating doctor still in the picture.
Common questions
Can homoeopathy cure a peanut allergy?
No. A severe food allergy is a medical condition that can kill, and it must be managed with strict avoidance and an adrenaline pen prescribed by your doctor. Do not test a known severe allergy under any circumstances.
Can I stop my antihistamine?
That is a decision to make with the doctor who prescribed it, based on how you are actually doing over time. Nothing should be stopped on the assumption that treatment will have worked by then.
My allergies get worse every year. Does that make treatment less likely to help?
A broadening pattern is common and it is not in itself a reason to expect less. It does mean the case needs to be taken carefully, and it is worth having any new or more severe reactions checked medically as well.
Do I need allergy testing first?
Testing is useful when it changes what you do, for example confirming a specific food to avoid. It is not required before a homoeopathic consultation, but if your doctor has recommended it, please go ahead with it.
Is this suitable for children?
Yes, allergies in children are a common reason families come. Any child with breathing difficulty or facial swelling needs emergency care first, every time.
