Skin that keeps telling you something.
Eczema, psoriasis, hives that appear from nowhere, acne that has outlasted your teenage years. Skin is visible, which is why it is the most suppressed system in the body.

Why creams work and then stop working
A topical steroid does something very specific. It damps down the local inflammation, so the patch fades. That is genuinely useful, and in an angry flare it is often the kindest thing available.
The difficulty is that it acts on the patch, not on whatever is driving the patch. So the skin clears, the cream stops, and after a while the same area, or a new one, comes up again. Over years people find they need it more often or in a stronger strength.
A homoeopathic case taking asks a different question. Not "how do we quieten this patch" but "why is this person producing this, here, now, and in this particular form".
What gets asked in a skin case
Skin cases are detailed, and the detail is the point. Expect questions about:
- Exactly where it appears, and whether it moves or stays.
- What it looks like. Dry, weeping, thickened, scaly, raised, and what colour.
- What makes it worse. Heat, cold, bathing, sweat, particular foods, stress, or the time of year.
- The itch itself. When it comes, what relieves it, and whether scratching helps or makes it burn.
- What has been used on it, for how long, and what happened when it was stopped.
- What else changed when the skin got better or worse, because skin often trades with something internal.
A word about "it may look worse before it looks better"
You will hear this in homoeopathy, and it deserves honesty rather than mystique. Sometimes people do report a brief flare early in treatment.
But it is also a phrase that can be used to explain away a treatment that is simply not working, or worse, to talk someone out of getting a genuinely worsening condition looked at. If your skin is spreading fast, infected, or you are unwell with it, that is not a healing reaction. That is a reason to be seen.
Skin can be the first sign of something that needs urgent care. Please see a doctor promptly if you have:
- A rash with fever, and especially a rash that does not fade when pressed with a glass
- Rapid swelling of the lips, tongue, face or throat, or any difficulty breathing, which is a medical emergency
- Skin that is hot, spreading, painful and weeping pus, which suggests infection
- Widespread blistering or skin peeling away in sheets
- A mole that is changing in size, shape, colour or border, or one that bleeds
- A sore or ulcer that has not healed in several weeks
- Any severe flare in someone who has recently stopped a long term steroid
What the first consultation looks like
- Deep case taking, 90 minutes. The complaint, the history, and everything around it. Bring your reports and a list of everything you take.
- Constitutional remedy. One remedy chosen for you rather than for the diagnosis on your file.
- Lifestyle protocol. Built from your own case, covering the things that actually hold the pattern in place.
- Review. Progress is judged on how you are and what your reports show, with your treating doctor still in the picture.
Common questions
Will homoeopathy cure my eczema?
Nobody can honestly promise a cure for eczema, and you should be wary of anyone who does. What treatment aims at is the pattern underneath rather than the patch on the surface. Whether that helps you specifically is something only a proper case taking can begin to answer.
Should I stop my steroid cream?
Not on your own, and not suddenly. Long term steroid use can cause a strong rebound if it is stopped abruptly. Any reduction should be planned with the doctor who prescribed it.
Is psoriasis treatable with homoeopathy?
Psoriasis is a long term autoimmune condition and it is managed rather than switched off. Classical homoeopathy approaches it constitutionally, which means treating the whole person rather than the plaques. It is best used alongside dermatological care, not instead of it.
My hives appear and vanish with no pattern. Is that useful information?
Yes. The absence of an obvious trigger is itself a finding, and urticaria has a well recognised pattern of behaving that way. It does still need checking that nothing serious is driving it, particularly if there is any swelling of the face or throat.
Does diet matter?
Often, though rarely in the simple way people hope. Rather than handing out a standard list of banned foods, Dr. Aarti looks at what your own case actually shows, and lifestyle guidance is built around that.
