Hair that is telling on you.
Hair fall is rarely a hair problem. It is usually the first visible sign that something else has shifted, which is why treating the scalp alone so often disappoints.

Conditions in this area
- Hair fall and thinning
- Alopecia areata
- Dandruff and scalp irritation
- Premature greying
- Hair fall after illness or childbirth
- Hair fall with PCOS or thyroid
Why hair is the last thing the body pays for
Growing hair is expensive and it is not essential to survival. So when the body is short of something, or is dealing with stress, illness or a hormonal shift, hair is one of the first things it stops funding.
That is why hair fall so often arrives two or three months after the event that caused it, long after you have stopped connecting the two. A fever, a crash diet, a bereavement, a delivery, a thyroid change. The hair reports it late.
It is also why oils, serums and shampoos so often disappoint. They are working on the shaft. The decision to stop growing was made somewhere else.
Get the blood tests done. Genuinely.
This is the most useful thing on this page, and it is not about homoeopathy at all.
A large share of hair fall traces back to something measurable: thyroid function, iron and ferritin, vitamin D, vitamin B12, or the hormonal picture in PCOS. Those are found on a blood test and nowhere else.
If you have not had those checked, please get them done before spending money on any treatment, ours included. Treating hair fall without knowing what is underneath it is guesswork, and a deficiency that is corrected properly often does more for your hair than anything else will.
Where this connects to the rest of her work
Hair fall is the area that overlaps most with everything else Dr. Aarti treats, which is exactly why it is worth taking constitutionally rather than as a separate complaint:
- Thyroid and PCOS. Both commonly show up in the hair, and both are covered on the women’s health page.
- Chronic stress. A well recognised trigger for a sudden, diffuse shed. See lifestyle conditions.
- Digestion and absorption. You can eat well and still not absorb well. See digestive.
- The scalp itself. Dandruff, seborrhoeic patterns and inflammation sit with the skin work.
- After an illness. A heavy shed two to three months after a fever or an infection is common and it is usually self limiting.
What a homoeopath asks about hair
- The pattern. All over, at the temples, a widening parting, or in distinct round patches.
- The timing. What was happening in your life three months before it started, not three days.
- The scalp. Itch, flaking, oiliness, tenderness, or nothing at all.
- The rest of you. Energy, cycle, digestion, sleep, nails and skin, because they are all part of the same picture.
- Your reports. Thyroid, iron, ferritin, vitamin D and B12. Bring them.
An honest word about regrowth
Some hair loss is recoverable and some is not, and the difference matters more than anything a practitioner can promise you.
Where the follicle is alive but dormant, as in a stress related shed or a deficiency, hair can return once the cause is addressed. Where the follicle has been destroyed, which is what scarring alopecia does, it does not come back. That is why the red flags below are worth reading properly rather than skimming.
Nobody here will tell you in advance how much will regrow. Anyone who does is guessing, and charging you for the guess.
Some hair loss is urgent because the window to save the follicle is short. Please see a doctor or a dermatologist promptly if you have:
- A shiny, smooth patch where the skin looks scarred and the follicle openings have disappeared, which can mean scarring alopecia and is permanent once established
- Hair loss with pain, burning, pus, crusting or a spreading rash on the scalp
- Sudden patchy loss that is spreading quickly, or loss of eyebrows, eyelashes or body hair
- Hair loss with unexplained weight loss, fever or severe fatigue
- Hair loss that started soon after a new medication, which needs the prescriber to review it
- Hair loss in a child
- Any bald patch that is growing week on week rather than month on month
What the first consultation looks like
- Deep case taking, 90 minutes. The complaint, the history, and everything around it. Bring your reports and a list of everything you take.
- Constitutional remedy. One remedy chosen for you rather than for the diagnosis on your file.
- Lifestyle protocol. Built from your own case, covering the things that actually hold the pattern in place.
- Review. Progress is judged on how you are and what your reports show, with your treating doctor still in the picture.
Common questions
Is there a homoeopathic medicine for hair fall?
Not in the way the question is usually meant. Classical homoeopathy does not match one remedy to one complaint, it matches the remedy to the person, so two people losing hair for different reasons need different treatment. Anyone handing you a single named remedy for hair fall without taking your case is not practising classical homoeopathy.
Should I get blood tests before starting?
Yes, and this is the most useful advice on this page. Thyroid, iron, ferritin, vitamin D and B12 explain a large share of hair fall, and they are only found on a test. Please have them done even if you decide not to pursue homoeopathy at all.
Will my hair grow back?
It depends entirely on whether the follicle is dormant or destroyed. Dormant follicles, as in a stress shed or a deficiency, often recover once the cause is treated. Destroyed follicles, as in scarring alopecia, do not. Nobody can tell you which you have without examining your scalp.
My hair started falling three months after I was unwell. Is that connected?
Very likely. A heavy diffuse shed two to three months after a fever, an infection, surgery, a crash diet or childbirth is a well recognised pattern, and it is usually self limiting. It still deserves checking that nothing else is contributing.
Can homoeopathy help hair fall from PCOS or thyroid?
Hair fall from a hormonal cause is treated as part of the hormonal picture rather than on its own, which is how classical homoeopathy approaches it anyway. It runs alongside your existing treatment, and thyroid medication is never stopped.
